A major use of the renewable energy generated by wood takes place today in board mills and sawmills where waste wood and bark from the processing or trees is a source of process heat. The first Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant to be fired on wood waste in Ireland was constructed in at Grainger Sawmills in West Cork. Where does Ireland get its electricity? In about 45% of our electricity was generated from natural gas, 96% of which was imported from Scotland 1 (Figure 3). Most of that gas originated in the North Sea with Continental Europe and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) imports to Britain making up the balance.

Bio Energy Bioenergy has historically been the largest contributor to Irish renewable energy through heat generation. It is expected to continue to play a significant role in further displacing fossil fuels, especially in the larger heat users in the commercial and industrial sector. Bioenergy Plan The Draft Bioenergy Plan was published by the.   At the conference Dr David Connolly, CEO of IWEA, said: “Wind energy is an Irish success story, driving down electricity costs for consumers, cutting .

CLEAN & EFFICIENT ENERGY Ireland is committed to a range of renewable energy and efficiency targets, many of which are being implemented as climate policy measures to reduce carbon emissions. At a European level, the ‘20/20/20’ commitments agreed under the EU Climate Change and Energy Package set three new targets for Explore Boots Energy Plus (48 tablets) and earn Advantage Card points on purchases.
